Survey for Craft Makers in Northern Ireland13-Jan-2020
The appetite for buying craft has increased dramatically over the past ten years, and we want to see the market grow even further. To this end, the Crafts Council and eight national partners*, including Craft NI, have already surveyed thousands of consumers - now we want to understand makers’ side of the story.
The closing date is Friday 31 January 2020.
Craft NI hosts exhibition of works from the Arts Council’s Contemporary Art Collection25-Nov-2019
A special exhibition at Craft NI’s new Royal Avenue premises featuring selected works from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s contemporary art collection is now open. The exhibition has come about as part of the Arts Council’s new Art Lending Scheme, a free scheme which is open to curators, galleries, and organisations interested in putting works from the Collection on public display.

If you are a designer-maker in Northern Ireland, we we want to hear from you on the issues that are important to you, which will help you develop in your work, or which are impacting on your business.
As one part of improving our communications with the sector, we are proposing the establishment of a Craft Advisory Panel (CAP) to share ideas and initiatives about new developments in the disciplines. We would like your help in identifying the members of our first Advisory Panel.

Artists / makers based in Northern Ireland, at any stage of their career, working in any media, will be selected from an open call as part of our Materials, Messages and Meaning series, and will receive a fee for a talk and exhibiting work.

QEST: Scholarships and Apprenticeships06-Jan-2020 - Funding & Grants
If you are a talented or aspiring craftsperson you can now apply for The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) funding of up to £18,000. QEST has funded crafts people across more than 150 craft disciplines ranging from millinery to thatching, arms & armour restoration to ice sculpture and basket-weaving to musical instrument making.
This can cover traditional university or college courses, vocational training, apprenticeships or one to one training.

Creative Peninsula, Northern Ireland’s largest celebration of Art and Craft was officially launched in Ards and North Down this week. Now in its 17th year, this thriving annual event brings together local artists and craftspeople to demonstrate their skills and showcase their work.
