Maker Training Survey24-Sep-2020
Craft NI is continuing to develop our maker support options. We plan to run some sessions in the next couple of months, others will be delivered in 2021. The programmes will include both free and paid options presented by industry experts, and elements of peer-to-peer learning where makers can share their experience with one another (we will pay contributing makers for their time).
We would be delighted if makers would take a few minute to complete this short survey, so we can align our planning with your current needs.

If yes, then this event may be of interest to you.
GROW South Antrim is working with partners in Finland, Estonia and Mexico on a project to support rural craftspeople in the Borough of Antrim and Newtownabbey through the NI Rural Development Programme (2014 – 2020). The project may involve craft skills development and exchanges, and access to international marketplaces. For this project, we are keen to target craft businesses, or those carrying out craft with the potential of turning their hobby/craft practice into a part-time or full time business.

Sell Your Craft Online28-May-2020
Craft NI presents a series of five FREE training sessions for NI Makers, selected to help Sell Your Craft Online with limited time and resources.
This programme is fully booked and we’ve been working with Chris Murphy to re-configure it for on-line delivery via Zoom. If lockdown lifts before the last session(s) we’ll revert to face to face, and either way, we’ll have an in-person session at the end for everyone to get together and work through any remaining questions.
If you need support with using Zoom, our colleagues at the Crafts Council have put together this useful guide.
In response to the circumstances, Chris has re-structured parts of the programme so there is now some added content that will help you weather this storm and make it out the other side.
We are delighted to launch our new support programme developed specifically for NI makers by Design Strategist + Educator Chris Murphy. Bespoke content will be presented through a series of unique workshops which connect into an overall development journey: from the stories our products tell, to the realities of juggling portfolio careers, pricing, funding and marketing.
Over 5 half-day interactive sessions at the iconic Ormeau Baths, Chris will use presentations, exercises, case studies and downloadable materials to cover a wide range of issues faced by independent makers right across the sector. While each session is designed to stand alone, you’ll get the most benefit by attending all five workshops and completing the (enjoyable!) homework tasks that accompany the workshop series.
The Orbit programme places business acumen and creative development on an equal footing. It will equip designer-makers at various stages of their careers and from different craft disciplines with new and refreshed business skills and supports Craft NI’s mission to strengthen business development within the craft sector.
