21-Jan-2021 - Awards & CompetitionsThe Cutlers’ Company is launching an annual design competition to create a set of contemporary cutlery; consisting of a knife, a fork and a spoon. The winning design will be produced in collaboration with a professional craftsperson / manufacturer and will be scaled up in order to produce a 6-piece dining set.

Textile Arts Workshop - An Creagán
- WorkshopsTextile Artist Andrea Hayes will show participants a variety of contemporary textile techniques that she uses to create her on artwork. Individuals can create a similar variation to one of Andrea's pieces or if they have a scene/image they would like to recreate they can bring do this also. This will include using specialist paints to paint backgrounds, access to a wide variety of fabrics for applique and fusing fabrics together and using fine metal such as copper and how to incorporate this into their very own artwork.
Date & Time: 14th April, 10am – 4pm Cost: £35 – includes lunch.

Alison Lowry
Celebrating the bicentenary of the birth of Sir Richard Wallace, this is the first collaboration between Lisburn’s R –Space Gallery and the Wallace Collection in London. The Collection is housed in 25 galleries and comprises French 18th Century painting, furniture and porcelain and a world class armoury. And it’s the armoury in particular that has inspired artist Alison Lowry’s week long residency at the collection.

Getting Started 2021
05-Jan-2021The Goldsmiths’ Centre has opened applications for Getting Started Online 2021, the one-week introduction to business course designed to support the most talented UK designers, designer makers and skilled craftspeople in the jewellery, silversmithing and allied industries.
Getting Started 2021 Online is a free course, delivered for the first time completely virtually, and will provide up to 100 start-ups with the help to get practical guidance and advice on key aspects of getting their business started.
Applications close on Sunday 14 February 2021.
