    Alan Kane, Chief Executive Officer at Craft NI from 2012, retired at the end March 2017. Following four years in post he is looking forward to taking some time out to enjoy a more leisurely pace of life. The Board would like to thank Alan for his dedication and work for the craft sector here and wish him well in his retirement.

  • Craft Hub for Northern Ireland Survey

    The Craft & Design Collective and Craft Northern Ireland have been resourced by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland to examine the feasibility of a Craft Hub for Northern Ireland. Please take a moment to complete the survey, before 5pm, Monday 13 March 2017.
  • Staff Changes at Craft NI

    Craft NI is delighted to report that Rhiannon Ewing-James, Project Officer for Craft NI since August 2016, has been appointed the new Creative Producer at British Ceramics Biennial. However this sadly means she is no longer Project Officer for Craft NI, but we're thrilled to announce that Meadhbh McIlgorm has joined Craft NI to take up the role.
  • NI Makers Set to Shine at 'Future Lights' 2017

    Northern Ireland is represented this year by two emerging designer/makers in the international Future Lights Competition. Designer/makers Wendy Ward and Rhiannon Ewing-James are two of the six Future Lights candidates who will attend the Trade Fair “Ambiente, 10th-14th February 2017”, as well as a 10 day workshop in Meissen Porcelain Manufactory, Germany, in May 2017.
  • Craft NI Selects Eight Makers for Showcase 2017

    As part of Craft NI's Export Development Training programme, eight designer-makers have been chosen to attend Showcase 2017 to present their work as part of the Craft NI Group Stand. We'd like to congratulate the makers for their hard work in preparation for the show, and wish them the very best of luck!
  • Space CRAFT Is Moving; Postpones 20 I 10 Exhibition

    After ten years up the escalator in Unit B9 at the Fountain Centre, Space CRAFT is moving down the escalator to Unit A7 at the Fountain Centre, next door to Sawers. As such, the Craft & Design Collective's August Craft Month '20 I 10' exhibition has been postponed.
  • NI Makers Win at 2016 Etsy Awards

    Craft NI would like to congratulate Rebecca Killen and Katie Brown on winning at the 2016 Etsy Awards. Rebecca Killen has won the Regional Award for Northern Ireland and Katie Brown has won the Bronze Award in the Fashion & Accessories category. Well done!

    With the 60 finalists announced for the 2016 Etsy Awards, Craft NI would like to congratulate NI makers Katie Brown & Rebecca Killen on being shortlisted. We're sure that they'll do well amongst a wealth of fabulous work.

    Craft NI is sorry to bid goodbye to Project Support Officer Sharyn McMaster, who has worked with Craft NI for the last year and a half. The Craft NI Board and Staff would like to thank her for her significant contribution to the work of Craft NI and the craft sector, and wish her every success in her new post at Audiences NI and all future endeavours.
  • Six Makers Chosen for Assembly Gift Shop Initiative

    Craft NI, in association with the NI Assembly Gift Shop, have chosen the six new makers to both showcase and sell their work at the gift shop, from May 1st - October 31st 2016. Congratulations to Jemma Millen, Slieve Croob Silver, Patricia Miller, Signature Woodcraft, Victoria Bentham, and Jupiter Red!
  • Stuart Cairns and Cara Murphy at V & A 'Silver Speaks'

    Silver Speaks is an 11-month long series of events to be held around the country to celebrate the exceptional level of creativity and skill in British silversmithing today. The spotlight will shine on some of the most exciting artists and designers – exploring the diverse applications of the material, from the experimental to the traditional, the sculptural to the functional. Fantastic news then, that NI makers Stuart Cairns and Cara Murphy are taking part in the exhibition!


  • Submissions Open for Creativity Month March 2016

    Event submissions are now open for 2016's month-long celebration of creativity and the Creative Industries in the north of Ireland. You can submit information online, but bear in mind the deadline is January 25th 2016. 
  • New 'Design Centre' @ Southern Regional College


    'The Design Centre' is a new initiative at Southern Regional College that will give students the opportunity to work to real-time, dedicated briefs in preparation for a career in the design industry. Makers, designers, developers and all manner of creatives can benefit from the experience being offered.
