August Craft Month is Northern Ireland’s annual celebration of craft. Made in Northern Ireland is the focus for August Craft Month 2012. Further information and calls to be part of ACM 2012 will appear here.

craftni.org/donate/Now over, the ACM 2011 theme, Craft Chat, aimed to get people thinking and talking about the quality and relevance of craft through discussion, storytelling, poetry and blogging.

Our thanks to all that were involved. Some of the highlights of ACM 2011 were:

Exhibitions - Normal Flora by Anna Dumitriu, R-Space Gallery, Lisburn; A White, A Blue, A Yellow, Red Poetry by Jeremy Reed at Craft NI; Sense of Place at Space CRAFT Gallery; Trans FORM Exhibition at Millennium Court Arts Centre and PIECE WORK at Arts & Disability Form. 

Talks - Creative Collaborations, New Embroidery, Landscapes of the Interior and the Craft of Conversation. 
 
Workshops - Make, Tea & Tell with the Craft Guerillas at the Craft Village, Derry; Eco Bags at Belfast Mela; Street Weave - Spin a yarn & pass it on; Treasure Archive at Craft NI, Belfast; Yarn Bombing Belfast vs Stitch ‘n’ Bitch Lisburn; Make! At the Ulster Museums and Design a Ring. 
 

August Craft Month 2011 also had a few surprises, including an invasion in Portadown, naughty embroidery at Skullduggery Tatu and Knit Sonik at University of Ulster.
