Alison Hanvey Ceramics
After graduating with a degree in Glass and Ceramics, Alison worked as a production potter for 25 years. She loves the qualities of clay, the way there is no resistance with it, that there is no need for tools to work it, and that she has direct expression from hand to clay.
Alison loves the process of throwing, the quiet, steady force required to create a form out of no form, the way the lines on each pot tell the story of the making. Five years ago, she returned to her own creative ideas, starting with a collaboration with her sister Debbie, a practising textile artist. Since then, Alison has developed a range of functional ware which she supplies to a number of retail outlets, and takes part in as many events and exhibitions as possible, as part of The Craft and Design Collective and The Creative Peninsula.
Alison finds inspiration in the garden and in the beautiful landscapes of County Down.
