Bricolage Quilts
Bricolage is a small design studio based in Holywood, Co. Down, and is the culmination of a life spent in design and architecture.
The essence of 'Bricolage' is in the name - a piecing together of available cloth to create bespoke contemporary quilts, focusing on locally sourced Irish linens.
With a background of many years in commercial design and teaching at The Glasgow School of Art and University of Ulster, Bricolage represents an exciting creative direction for its founder Sinead Black: reviving the lost tradition of hand quilting, producing contemporary heirloom quilts which are uniquely designed, beautiful and practical.
It draws on the maker’s design expertise, influences of landscape, nature, botanical dyes and a strong understanding of colour and graphic pattern, thus producing a distinctive modern design identity.
It continues a family tradition in sewing and embroidery as all items are handquilted, which effectively show the patient hand of the maker.
