Catherine Keenan graduated from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin with a BDes in Craft Design:Glass in 2006. She then went on to study at the International Glass Centre, West Midlands, specialising in glass blowing and cold decoration and carving.
"I seek to generate positive emotions with my work, to give solace and uplift. I am preoccupied by colour and pattern. I explore and express this fascination in blown glass by experimenting with various techniques, and observing the subtle possibilities offered by each choice in the making process. The physical rhythm required to work with molten glass is what I fell in love with and what I continue to improve on."
In 2012, Catherine received First Prize in Glass at the National Craft Competition, Dublin. Her glass pieces have been exhibited internationally in Dublin, London, Munich, Denmark and USA and are included in several major public collections including the Ulster Museum, The Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the Crafts Council of Ireland and the National Museums of Ireland.
Catherine Keenan was awarded a place on the Craft NI making it 2011 programme at Flowerfield Arts Centre.
