A former Architectural Technologist, Catherine switched to a career in ceramics in 2002 - designing, manufacturing and exporting globally a range of striking earthenware.
Initially specialising in applied glazing, she has recently shifted her focus to a more formalist approach to ceramics and, drawing on her architectural
training, explores alternative and combined production methods - which in turn is helping to inform her PhD research into the ‘Aesthetics of 3D Printing’
at Belfast School of Art.
Currently producing mainly commissioned and experimental pieces, Catherine’s commercial output is strictly limited however, her distinctive range of black and copper glazed earthenware is available exclusively from Space Craft in Belfast.
Catherine lectures in Design at the Open University, is an enthusiastic arts facilitator for a broad range of charities and groups across Northern Ireland, and has been a vociferous advocate for applied art and design in Co Tyrone for many years.
