Located on the shores of Strangford Lough, Cula Ceramics is based in Studio E. From her studio Ellen produces exquisite and unique contemporary ceramic forms.
Ellen’s work is heavily influenced by the natural and cultural surroundings of where she is based. Capturing the beautiful qualities of nature, her work endeavours to echo fleeting moments and evoke memories. Attention to detail is a quality Ellen brings to her work and she captures nature’s elegance using unusual techniques within her stoneware and porcelain pieces. Dress making skills are used in her commercial work. She designs templates to create each form, which is then fitted together as if it were a garment.
Ellen studied at Bangor SERC and achieved a Foundation Degree in Applied Creative Arts 2011.
Ellen is also co-founder and owner of Studio E in Newtownards situated on the edge of Strangford Lough. She creates her work with fellow artists within Studio E and offers opportunities to other artists by offering studio space, joining in exhibition opportunities and holding weekly ceramic classes for the community to engage in.
