dasalee textile art
dasalee are two very experienced artists based in Co. Tyrone. They have joined together their individual skills to create their textile art. Taking their inspiration and passion from Irish wildlife and nature, Stephanie and Sheila have shared their painting, print making, embroidery and sewing skills to produce art which is both contemporary and yet still retains an element of traditional charm.
Combining a natural Irish linen backdrop, bold and rich colours, each individual piece has a fascinating story to tell.
“Our working process is best described as collectively placing a variation of coloured pieces of linen together. We, then, hand paint each individual wildlife subject and finally use a printmaking technique to capture our plants that is then embellished with metallic embroidery that creates a lustrous finish”.
Stephanie Hazelton graduated from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin in 1994 with a BA Honours Degree in Textile Design. Her creative journey has led her to work on many art projects in Ireland, London, Italy and America as well as her work being exported across the world.
