Ellie Niblock graduated from the University of Ulster in 2015 studying Textile Art, Design and Fashion, taking a unique approach to craft. She uses a range of different materials and processes that give her the freedom to create amorphous forms for her sculptures.
She is influenced by social behaviour, personalities and emotions and her work suggests confusion through the use of shape and texture. The anomalous forms are colourful, decorative and almost dreamlike. The combination of attraction and repulsion is a recurring theme in Ellie’s work, the objects have both hard and soft tactile surfaces and the unification of the two is what makes them intriguing to the viewer. Ellie is now based in King Street Arts Studios in Belfast City Centre.
