Gail Mahon
Gail Mahon is a ceramic artist making one-off sculptural objects and installations for exhibitions, gallery based works and commissions. She has developed a distinct approach to working with clay and uses a variety of approaches to making. The results are often intriguing multiple-part arrangements using configurations and assembled objects intended to reflect a relationship to their location and client.
Gail has established her practice for over 6 years whilst successfully moving through the Craft NI making it Programme from 2006 to 2008. Her studio is based in the North West and she works independently, collaboratively and in partnership with organisations to develop projects and new creative approaches to interdisciplinary programming.
"Clay is my primary visual language, and the axis point for exploration of making, materials, processes. I am drawn by curiosity to explore human and animal behaviour which fascinate and inform my direction with strong scientific enquiry to understand and translate through making”
