Jakki is a ceramic artist working in both two and three dimensions focusing on stylised animal forms. Her current Peacock Collection explore the inherent qualities of clay to hold texture and pattern.
Jakki is a graduate of the University of Ulster Belfast who juggles both teaching and making. As a ceramic artist she works in both two and three dimensions focusing on stylised animal forms in her current Peacock Collection that explore the inherent qualities of clay to hold texture and pattern. Colour is important in her pieces where she uses glaze to finish her work in both vibrant and tonal colours.
Jakki makes both hand built ceramic panels and 3D sculptures, the former are stylised animal forms focussing on texture and surface decoration. These works are glazed using vibrant commercial glazes and presented in a frame. The latter are 3D sculptures that are animal based and made as one-offs. These may be oxidised or glazed and stand a minimum of 30cm tall.
Seasonal Christmas ware is textured using lace and made into glazed 3D candle holders or Christmas tree decorations.
Her 3D sculptural work focuses on both stylised and realistic animal forms.
Jakki will consider commissions and is also available for weekend workshops.
