Lauren Scott

Lauren creates a range of patchwork animal sculptures incorporating traditional textile craft skills. Observations of Irish wildlife inspire her ‘Veggie Taxidermy’ creations. She has completed a BA Honours in Fine and Applied Arts (Textile Art) at Belfast School of Art.

Lauren's creatures are hand-stitched with embroidery and appliqué details and are finished with hand built ceramic feet.  She has continually exhibited her sculptures in Northern Ireland at the ‘RUA Annual Exhibition’ 2012 and 2013 in the Ulster Museum. Lauren has showcased her work at the RDS National Craft Awards exhibition, Dublin, at ‘Perspective: Inspiration Unveiled’ at Craft Central, London and ‘New Designers, One Year On,’ show.

Lauren has won several awards for her creatures including the prestigious ‘Irish Patchwork Society Award’, Craft NI’s ‘Craft in Business Award,’ ‘The Sustainable Craft Award’ and ‘The Lilla Speir Award in Embroidered Textile Art’.

Lauren teaches sculptural textile workshops and runs storytelling events.  She is one of Craft NI’s ‘Making It Programme 2013’ participants.
