Malcolm Murchison Ceramics
Malcolm Murchison produces both tableware and sculptural ceramics in porcelain, stoneware and from time to time, Raku. His work often combines found materials including driftwood, metals and plastics.
Malcolm has recently returned to full-time making as an artist working in ceramics, under the auspices of Craft NI’s making it scheme.
Malcolm graduated from the University of Ulster in 1980 and has enjoyed a successful career in arts administration, most notably fundraising and project managing the £2.2M award-winning development of Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart. He has championed creative learning for all and remains passionate about the importance of cultural opportunity in the community.
“I love making objects that hopefully, will entertain or surprise my audience”, says Malcolm. “Much of my work is connected with the sea and air, perhaps stimulated from my location on the North Coast of Ireland and an intuitive love of the ocean”.
