Nicola is a wheel based ceramicist who is a recent graduate in Contemporary Applied Arts from the University of Ulster Belfast.
“I make ceramics because I have a love and a passion for the material and the endless possibilities that can be formed from clay”.
Nicola takes her inspiration from the relationship between manmade and natural environments and how they interact to create a unique beauty
She uses RAKU and SAGGAR firing techniques to apply a range of materials such as: horsehair, sawdust, seaweed, etching ink and glazes onto the white surface of the clay. To achieve results that are unique and intriguing.
As a student ceramicist she was invited to demonstrate her creative firing process at the prestigious International Ceramics Festival, Aberystwyth.
