Rebecca Killen is a ceramic designer/maker living and working in County Down. Rebecca Killen Ceramics provides unique products for the interiors and giftware market using fine bone china. The current collection consists of blue and white bottles, vessels and dishes all created using the industrial process of slip casting and decorated with both hand painted cobalt designs and ceramic decals.
Having graduated from the University of Ulster in 2011 with a BA Hons Degree in Fine and Applied Art, Rebecca went on to complete the BA+1 residency at the University of Ulster and was also awarded a place on Craft NI’s ‘Making It’ 2013-2015 programme based in the Southern Regional College.
Rebecca creates unique products for the interiors and gift ware market using fine bone china, cobalt and hints of gold lustre. The collection, inspired by traditional blue and white patterns, is simple in form and consists of functional and decorative bottles, vessels and dishes. The work acts as a contemporary discourse on patterns of the past, with the smooth and fine finish of the bone china providing an elegant foundation for unique surface pattern.
