Shauna was awarded with a BA(hons) Degree in Design Crafts, Cumbria College of Art & Design in 2000. In 2010 she travelled to Siena, Italy, to study new glass techniques.
Shauna’s practice is concerned with the exploration of clay whilst also investigating the possibilities of a crossover of materials between glass and metal.
She produces unique framed ceramic imagery as well as sculptural work.
The transition from her early framed work has derived from the introduction of sculpture and exploration of material. Ultimately she is now attempting to create a narrative around themes of memory, nostalgia, metamorphosis and identity.
Shauna recently received a ‘Highly Commended’ certificate at Ceramics of Europe 2014, Westerwaldprize, Keramikmuseum, Germany. In 2013 her work was selected from Lisburn City art collection through the Anna Cheyne Award. In 2011 Shauna was awarded the Earnest Anderson Memorial Bursary, Castlereagh Borough Council, which resulted in a residency at Tyrone Gutherie Centre, Monaghan.
