The Craftsmyth

Anita Smyth is the designer-maker behind ‘The Craftsmyth’. In parallel with her 20 + year career as a scientist, she practiced a variety of crafts including patchwork, textiles, dollmaking, embroidery, and felting.

While she is largely self-taught, she has completed an online workshop with Fiona Duthie, an internationally renowned felt artist, and has completed a City and Guilds level 3 course in Embroidery.

Born and bred in the beautiful farmland of the Roe Valley region, she delights in the natural world around her, soaking up the colours and textures to incorporate into her art which includes felt purses, bags, journals and pictures, as well as tiny handmade dolls.

Her fresh approach to the age-old technique of wet felting, combined with fine embroidery satisfies a creative streak in her, and enables her to produce unique and stunning pieces of Irish art.
