Jane Allen studied Textile Crafts at the University of Huddersfield and has completed an MA in Multi-Disciplinary Design at the University of Ulster.
The emphasis of Jane’s practice is on texture, decoration and a hybrid mix of traditional and contemporary techniques; to create simple, uncomplicated fabrics and sculptural forms.
“An investigation and exploration of the processes and materials used drives my work. Exploring the potential of combining crafts and new technologies such as laser cutting is central to the practice and transforms a simplistic surface into an engaging aesthetic.”
Commissions range from installations, decorative artefacts and interior fabrics.
