Victoria graduated from the University of Ulster, Belfast, in July 2012 with a First class Honours degree in Fine and Applied Arts. Since graduating she has set up a small ceramics studio on the Ards peninsula.
Her work is inspired by the lush Irish countryside around her, as well as her desire to explore the possibilities of colour, texture and surface in her ceramics. The pieces she creates explore memories and relationships between people and their surroundings.
Victoria’s pieces are made from rich black clay, which she patterns using antique wooden printing blocks, hand cut stencils, and print techniques. Her pieces are decorated with slip and glazes that she makes by hand. There are often three or four layers of colour and pattern on a single surface. Some of the pieces are illustrated with tiny representations of particular memories; they are often finished with a delicate platinum lustre.
