Michael McCrory
Michael McCrory studied silversmithing at the Belfast College of Art and jewellery at the City of London Polytechnic. He went on to teach silversmithing and jewellery at the University of Ulster, his last post being Head of School of Fine and Applied Art.

In 1996 Michael took early retirement and since then he has been producing silverware mainly for commissions and exhibitions. His work can be found in many public and private collections
“Silverware to me has to be aesthetically pleasing with a sculptural visual strength. My designs are founded on a balance of line, form and proportion. My inspiration comes from looking and seeing natural and manmade objects, visiting museums and archaeology sites. I am particularly interested in the growth, surfaces and textures of plants; this has led to the development of forms and the prickly pear surface decoration used in my latest work.”
Michael’s work can be found in many public and private collections and he produces work mainly for exhibition and to commission.
