MADE 2017 @ Space CRAFT
Join the Craft & Design Collective for MADE 2017, their annual exhibition of selected craft, applied art and design at Space CRAFT. Running 3 March - 1 April.
Featuring ceramic works by Amy Mackle, Claire Gibson and Victoria Bentham, glass works by Alison Lowry and guest exhibitor Scott Benefield, jewellery/silversmithing works by Egle Banyte, Joanne Gamble and Samantha Moore and textile works by Jennifer Cunningham and Tomomi McElwee, MADE is the Craft & Design Collective’s highest profile exhibition of the year.
The aim of the exhibition is to provide a focal point in the calendar to showcase work of the highest quality in the land – work that is Marvellous, Amazing, Delightful and Exceptional. The exhibition is intended to both challenge and inform the public perception of Craft, Applied Art and Design.
MADE is an exhibition of Craft, Applied Art and Design open to Artist/Designer/Makers working in Craft Disciplines recognised by either the Crafts Council (GB) or the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland.
The Selection Panel was Kim Mawhinney, Head of Art, National Museums Northern Ireland, Deirdre Robb, Visual Arts Development Officer, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Scott Benefield, Glass Artist and second-ever recipient of the Rosemary James Memorial Trust Award in 2015, administered by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Scott Benefield is also the guest exhibitor.
This year the Selection Panel chose nine pieces to be exhibited by a mixture of emerging and established Artist/Designer/Makers.
The Selection Panel have done their work now it’s your turn to make your selection… Visitors to the exhibition have the opportunity to vote for their favourite piece and the Craft & Design Collective will make an award of £250 to the winning Artist/Designer/Maker.
