Mottainai Textiles Upcoming Workshops
Mottainai Textiles have lined up more of their popular indigo dyeing workshops this summer, as well as a new 'Dressmaking from a Pattern' workshop starting June 13th.
An introduction to Dressmaking
Catherine Quinn will show you how to read a pattern, cut and stitch fabric correctly using a sewing-machine, tailor the garment for your needs and insert a zip. Each student will finish with their own unique summer dress.
Bring a sewing machine, in good working order, with a spare needle.
Evening classes will be from 7pm – 9pm and begin on Tuesday June 13th and run until July 4th.
Class sizes are kept small to allow plenty of one to one teaching, therefore places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
Introduction to Japanese Indigo Dyeing
On the 24th of June, and 30th of July, Catherine's one day introduction to Japanese indigo dyeing is the perfect taster class to understand this beautiful natural dye. Students will learn about shibori and its history in Japanese culture. They will make two shibori cotton pieces of their own and be instructed in the use of the indigo vat.
The workshop is held in the Mottainai Belfast studio, in Conway Mill, an old Irish linen mill. The class is from 10am until 3pm with a lunch break. Class sizes are kept small to allow plenty of one to one teaching, therefore places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
