Wednesday Lunchtime Talks and an exhibition of Ulster Woodturnings
Wednesday 4 August 1pm: Claire Magill, Regional Conservator, National Trust
Claire will explore the conservation approach that is applied to collections at National Trust properties, including the 9 agents of deterioration. Textile Survey at the Argory- will also be discussed with examples and images.
Wednesday 11 August 1pm: Lyndsey McDougall, Textile Artist & Printmaker
Lyndsey uses the traditional embroidery techniques to document the ephemeral that creates a juxtaposition between traditional and contemporary artforms. Lyndsey is a member of Seacourt Print Workshop, an artist print studio located in Bangor, Co. Down. www.seacourt-ni.org.uk
Wednesday 18 August 1pm: Helen Shields, Visual Artist & Stone-carver
Visual artist Helen Shields will talk about her practice and the development of her work into the area of stone-carving.
Her series of large stone heads have been inspired by her love of eastern sculpture and early Italian frescos.
Wednesday 25 August 1pm: George Lowden, Hand-made Guitars
George Lowden started designing and building the first Lowden guitars in 1974 in his workshop in Bangor, County
Down. From the very beginning he was determined to develop unique designs. Lowden guitars are played throughout
the world by artists including Eric Clapton, Damien Rice, Foy Vance & David Gray. www.georgelowden.com
