August Craft Month update

With an update on August Craft Month, we’re progressing with an online programme this year, which will include some keynote speakers, some sneaky peeks into makers’ studios as well as a juried August Craft Month exhibition:

We’re also pleased that although physical Creative Peninsula will be much missed this year, North Down and Ards Council will also be adding online content into the online festival in the form of open studios, online training and some children’s workshops.

As part of keeping the profile of NI craft and makers high, particularly during August, we’d love to see some clips from makers on these themes:

My treasured or favourite craft object. Here is a lovely example from Cork-based maker Rosemary Kavanagh on work from her teacher, Armagh-based Alison Fitzgerald.

Craft in Five Words – in collaboration with Cork Craft Month we want to build a library of shareable video clips of makers talking about what craft means to them. Send your clips to info@craftni.org or via a file sharing site such as WeTransfer.

Here's CEO Katherine McDonald to tell us more.
