NI makers Branching Out in January

17-Dec-2013 in Business & the Economy

Earlier this year, Craft NI issued two calls for designer-makers interested in improving their export potential by taking part in two high profile fairs - Showcase and Craft: Redefining Handmade - in January. All makers have now been selected and training to support their attendance at these events is now underway.

Taking place in conjunction with ‘Home’ and ‘Top Drawer’ at Earls Court in London from 12 – 14 January 2014, ‘CRAFT: Redefining Handmade 2014’ is a new trade event designed to provide a commercial platform to small craft businesses with an invaluable opportunity to reach an audience of professional retailers and collectors. Find out more about the show and the five selected NI designer-makers here.

Showcase: Ireland's Creative Expo is now in its 38th year. Located at the RDS, Showcase takes place from the 19-22 January. This year, with over 350 exhibitors, it offers more opportunities than ever for buyers, local and international, to stock up on unique, design-led products in fashion, knitwear, crafts, gifts and home accessories. Supported by the Creative Industries Innovation Fund, ten NI makers will be in attendance. Find out more about Showcase and who is exhibiting here.

These opportunities have been targeted at those who are both new to presenting, and wishing to improve their presentation of, work at export-directed trade fairs and selected makers have been benefitting from both training sessions and one-to-one support in the run up to these export events. We wish all those taking part great success.
