NI Makers in the Spotlight
All the time we hear exciting stories of Northern Irish designer-makers who have been profiled internationally or are due to have their work viewed by an international audience in the near future.
'Trap' cups (detail of the group pictured here) by silversmith Cara Murphy are currently on exhibition at the Goldsmiths' Centre, 42 Britton Street, Clerkenwell, London, EC1M 5AD, London until 5th July.
Talented young Ulster goldsmith Samantha Moore is the only goldsmith from Northern Ireland to be invited to take part in the exhibition - 'Celebrating British Contemporary Design in the Fields of Jewellery, Silver and Furniture', at the Goldsmith’s Pavilion, Somerset House, London. The show continues until the 29th of June.
Work from Rachel McK is Suspend.ed in Pink in Delaware, USA in August and September. Suspend.ed in Pink is a touring exhibition that seeks to explore the world of jewellery as it is now. With a focus on concept driven jewellery, also known as art or research jewellery, the exhibition features wearable pieces that contain the colour PINK.
Closer to home, 'three x 3' (three person touring exhibition featuring glass artists Scott Benefield, Sean Campbell and Andrea Spencer) is currently showing at the Garter Lane Gallery in Waterford until the 24th of July.
