Tannaghmore Blacksmiths highly commended in Craft Skills Award
Tannaghmore Blacksmiths Workshop have been highly commended in the 'Encouraging Crafts Skills in the Informal Sector' category of the Craft Skills Award. They were the only NI group shortlisted for an award.
This is the first year of the Craft Skills Awards, which have been inaugurated to celebrate the passing on of craft skills and to ensure craft continues to flourish in the future. The awards acknowledge excellence in teaching, maintaining and developing the skills of the craftsperson and others.The Award partners include the Crafts Council (UK), Heritage Crafts Association, Creative & Cultural Skills and more.
The Awards were presented in London on Thursday, 2nd May with awards being presented by the Prince of Wales. The event was hosted by Kirsty Allsop.
TBW - including Eamonn Higgins and Steven Murphy - were shortlisted and received a commendation in the category for ‘Encouraging craft skills in informal settings’ along with four other nominees. The winner in the category was Wendy Short (Upholstery).
