Appointment of a Chairperson to the Board of Craft NI
The Chairperson will be instrumental in helping Craft NI in its mission “To build an integrated, entrepreneurial and vibrant contemporary crafts industry in Northern Ireland, actively supported by regional and local stakeholders, that contributes increasingly to the creative, cultural and economic life of Northern Ireland.
Skills and experience
Applications are welcome from a wide range of people who have an interest in public service, including those with suitable experience gained in the community, voluntary, business or public sectors. The individual appointed will receive training and a relevant induction programme.
Applicants for the Chairperson position must be able to demonstrate a number of competences: experience of promoting/developing good corporate governance and risk management, and an understanding of public accountability; effective communication and interpersonal skills; experience of successfully leading an organisation or sectoral group; experience of promoting equality and social inclusion; strategic planning skills, as well as developing successful strategies and plans; and, an informed interest in the Arts. It is also desirable for candidates to have suitable board level experience.
- The appointment is for a term of up to 4 years from 1 April 2017.
- The time commitment for the Chairperson post is at least 4 days per year. In addition, the Chairperson will be expected to ensure the visibility of
Craft NI by attending events on a periodic basis. It is a voluntary unpaid role, however travel and subsistence allowances are payable where appropriate.
