Miniature Arteriosclerotic Heart
Ming Porcelain, blue rose decal surface & gold lustre. Dimensions: 10 × 6 × 6 cms
Arteriosclerosis is a heart disease where the aorta of the heart calcifies to a hardness like porcelain, often referred to as ‘Porcelain Aorta’ – the most common cause of vascular dementia. The heart has been hand-built in fine Ming porcelain & fired to 1300°. Once clay has been fired to a certain temperature it cannot be reversed to clay again, the chemical memory of the ceramic has changed, representing the final transition in the dementia process.
